It’s almost identical to last week’s post and the one six years ago, except specific to the Garmin Edge series because frankly it’ll help people in Google trying to find Edge-specific instructions. But as promised, I’d be refreshing that old Edges-specific post too – which is what this new post is all about.
When your file is ready, just rename it as “gmapbmap” and place it in the “Garmin” folder on the device as above.Last week I published a piece on how to install free maps on your Garmin wearable, which was a tweaked update of my six-year-old post on how to install maps on your Garmin Edge devices. This way you can select only the area you need, which could be a much smaller file. You can instead go to and play around with the bounding box option. If this process doesn’t work for you because the file size of the map block is too big (probably only an issue with the Garmin etrex 10). If you still don’t like the result you could repeat the whole process, but instead of choosing the Openfiets map, try out the “Generic Routable (new style)” map.
You should be sent an email immediately. In the box just above the map enter your email address, then click build my map.
